Roaring River
The River was named Roaring River but it was really more like a slow boat to China. This was the most exciting scenery I could find. The two small waves in the center. Maybe it was more exciting further down.
Creation Falls at Red River Gorge
Friends, Quincy and Diane took me and my husband on a hiking trail at Red River Gorge. It took all my energy to walk the 2 mile trail to Creation Falls. The Gorge is located in Daniel Boone National Park. It was breath-taking and we plan to return soon.
Diane's Flowers, Mount Carmel, Kentucky
Visited friends at Mt. Carmel, Quincy and Diane. These flowers were growing next to their house in the Kentucky hills located near Mt. Carmel High School.
Mountain Top Flowers
These lilies grew wild throughout the forest and communities at Lookout Mountain. They were a favorite flower used in many landscapes.
Lookout Mountain, Tennessee
These cannons are located in the Lookout Mountain Park. A flashback to the civil war. Used the Sepia setting for the pictures.

Before the Cold
The winter was harsh this year and showed no mercy. The cold weather turned the palm ferns brown. They were trimmed down to the core. Stripped of its green coat, it now stands small and bare. It will be late summer before the ferns will grow back to their original size.

Vail Point News Copy
I converted this photo into an old newspaper print. I like the texture of the background and the outline of the trees against the horizon.
Vail Point Park, St. Augustine, Florida
I applied a dry brush technique on several of the photos. It was a very hot afternoon with thunder roaring in the distances . The shade trees and hanging moss were picturesque of old Florida. The Seminole Indians had lived in the Moultrie Creek and Vail Point area where it is still a popular site for fishing.
Camp Willis
These photos are of Lake Griffin located in Leesbury, Florida. I attended a retreat there in the spring and it was a blessing to be in the beautiful surroundings. The oak trees line the lake and cast a multitude of shadows on the trails.

Snake Creek, Heard County Ga.
Snake Creek is off highway 27 in Heard County. It is a secluded park for people who enjoy fishing on the backwaters. It was a quick side trip that also included a spring shower. Red mud was the rule of the day for the long winding country road that is mostly traveled by hunters. Tourist can easily get lost on the long stretch of red clay. I ask my husband to turn around when the road was flooded and I knew my Honda Civic would never make it across the deep puddles. I did not see any snakes but I did not try to look for one either!
Fields Landing Park, Allatoona Lake
My granddaughter Lyssa had her high school graduation luncheon at Fields Landing Park at Allatoona Lake. Allatoona Lake is located at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. There were a flock of geese and one lone duck swimming around the shore line. I believe the duck thought he was a goose? On the other side of the lake is Little River Marina where we stopped for lunch the next day. There were a pack of ducks at that end of the lake and there were no geese in sight. Geese on one end and ducks on the other. Makes you wonder?
River Walk, Columbus, Ga.
These pictures of River Walk and the surrounding area were taken on a Sunday morning. It was very quiet and the town was still sleeping. The Chattahoochee River was calm and serene. It brought back childhood memories of growing up on 27th Street and River Drive. I played on the banks of the Chattahoochee River with childhood friends. We enjoyed plum fights and baseball games and sliding down the hillside in old cardboard boxes.
Rankin Gardens & Atrium, Columbus, Ga.
My daughter and son-in-law were married in a beautiful evening wedding at the Rankin Gardens & Atrium in historical downtown Columbus, Ga. I will always cherish the memories of lavender roses, tealights and the soft twlight glow around the arbor. It was a magical evening of love and celebration.
A Country Church, Sixes, Georgia
Sixes, Georgia is an unincorporated town in Cherokee County. Several generations of my ancestors are buried at the Sixes United Methodist Church. To preserve memories of the historical building, I took these pictures before they have built the new church. The grave yard is located in the back. A parking lot is being constructed and a subdivision surrounds the grave yard. Historical places are slowly being consumed. These are memories of a country church.
