The Clouds Came Down to Earth

This particular morning was raining, dark and dreary.  You could not see the mountain range for the low hanging clouds.  The clouds came down to earth.

The Rainy Day

  The day is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
The vine still clings to the mouldering wall,
But at every gust the dead leaves fall,
And the day is dark and dreary.

My life is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
My thoughts still cling to the mouldering Past,
But the hopes of youth fall thick in the blast,
And the days are dark and dreary.

Be still, sad heart! and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.

Lightening Under the Trees

It was thundering and lightening tonight so I tried to capture the light from the yard lantern flickering in the rain.  The night sky had flashes of light that brighten the surrounding area with a reddish tint.  The light shining between two trees makes the front tree look crooked.  This photo has a weird and spooky effect for Halloween.

Morning Glory Rain

"The morning glory at my window satisfies me more than the metaphysics of books."  Whitman, Walt
These morning glory flowers were growing outside my window so I took these pictures after a morning rain.

After a Morning Rain

After a morning rain.
the morning glory bows,
Rain droplets falling,
The dawn is breaking,
Sounds of leaves rustling
As the misty wind blows,
Clouds bathe in light,
The silent sun comes,
As treetops glistens,
A new day has begun.

Rains Mud in Georgia

 I believe it rains mud in Georgia.  It is a phenomena that only the folks of Georgia knows about. On a rainy night in Georgia the clay dyes the rain into shades of red and burnt orange mud that runs down into the creeks, brooks, ponds and rivers.  That is really why so many folks are called red necks for bathing in muddy Georgia water. I am sure most of the country thinks it is because of the bubba trucks and guns.

"Georgia Clay"
Ain’t it funny how some things take you back?
And the here and now just fades to black
When I pull that blue tarp off of that time machine
Man, it hits me

Seventeen years old running on dumb luck
Spent the whole damn summer
Living in that truck
Them old tires still covered in that mud
Like it sticks with me, in my blood

When life was nothing more than living for the night
Just trying to steal a kiss on a tailgate of that ride
Good old days don’t wash away
Just like that Georgia Clay

Only one of my friends with a Fake I.D.
It made the hometown celebrity
Used to put her in park in a vacant lot
And I still can’t believe we never got caught

When life was nothing more than living for the night
Just trying to steal a kiss on a tailgate of that ride
Good old days don’t wash away
Just like that Georgia clay

All over everything, every last memory
Man it’s all coming back to me...

Winter-Spring Valentine's Day Raindrops

Winter flowers are blooming and so are Spring Flowers.  The seasons are merged but it makes a interesting and beautiful display of flowers.  Today is Valentine's Day and it is raining on my flowers.  Christmas Poinsettias and Camellias are in full bloom with Azaleas. It is a winter-spring mixed Valentine's Day of raindrops hanging from the flowers.

Raining Like Ducks

 It has been raining like ducks today.  Normally, the saying is cats and dogs but here in Florida we have a lot of ducks and other bird so "Raining like ducks" fits better.  These ducks are enduring the rain and walking around patiently waiting for the rain to stop so they can go back into the pond.  I never paid much attention to the habits of ducks when it rains but on my drive to get a Latte, I noticed all the ducks were out of the pond so I stopped to observe and take pictures.  Of course, I got soaking wet doing it.  I felt like a "duck out of water."

Blue on Blue for a Rainy Day at the River

Took a walk on Shore Drive and it started raining.  The Matanzas River is beautiful in the rain. It makes up for not having trees with the brilliant color leaves of fall.  Different shades of blue you can't find in the mountains so it not so bad here.  Blue on Blue for a rainy day.  "River in the Rain, Sometimes at night you look like a long white train, winding your way away somewhere, River I love you. don't you care" (Roger Miller).
